Why everyone should have a healthy lunchbox? By Birthday Girl Miss 11!

Good Morning! I hope this finds you well and having a beautiful day.

11 years ago I was living in the Hunter Valley – I recall it being a fresh winters day but the sun warmed me as I walked around the backyard chatting casually to my hubby, my mum and my dad as I was in the early stages of labour with my first born. I remember being nervous and excited all at the same time, I was a ‘little’ naive and really didn’t know what was ahead of me….18 hours after my first contraction, a lot of ‘happy gas’ and a fair bit of yelling later (including me begging my hubby and mum for me to go home for a rest…promising to come back to the hospital later!) our darling first daughter was born at 10.22pm weighing a healthy 8 pound 1.

I can’t believe that day was 11 years ago! What a beautiful, kind and loving girl she is growing up to be. She is a sensitive soul that lives to please people and is a perfectionist, she has a gorgeous smile and laughs until she cries (especially at her Dad!), she is an amazing and helpful big sister, she is OBSESSED with Physical Culture and she is such a generous and sweet friend to anyone and everyone who allows her to be. I never knew just how much love and happiness she would bring into the lives of her family and friends. I am certainly blessed to be her Mum!

This morning – seeing her bedroom done up for the first time as a birthday gift – painted, 1 direction doona cover, desk and little tv and dvd player …. look how excited she looks!

Last month she showed me this homework she wrote and I can’t help but share it with you all, I love hearing a childs innocent (and blunt!) perspective on things, I hope you enjoy it.

“Why everyone should have a healthy lunchbox”

What do you have in your daily lunchbox? Junk food is an addictive snack that a lot of kids and even adults are packing in their lunch boxes. People are better off with a healthy and nutritious lunch box because it keeps you fit and healthy, junk food can make people sick and it can affect younger kids brains or insides.

First and foremost, everyone must have a healthy lunchbox because it can keep you fit and healthy. Have you looked at the ingredients of your daily snacks? Well, most packaged and wrapped foods are full of saturated fats, additives, MSG, preservatives and a very high amount of sugar and a lot more unhealthy ingredients. This is making both children and adults overweight and obese. A lot of families are having their children sent to school and daycare with their lunchboxes full of cookies, flavoured popcorn, chips, chocolates and much more. Kids are better off provided with fruit and additive free items packed into their lunchboxes. This is an important reason as to why everyone must have a healthy lunchbox.

In addition, everyone must have a healthy lunchbox because junk food can make people fat and obese. It can not only make you fat but it can make you sick. Little kids are getting sick from too much junk food. Some families are having takeaway for dinner almost every second night and when they are eating it they are digesting more and more unhealthy chemicals into their body every mouthful.

Furthermore, everyone must have a healthy lunchbox because it makes your insides all nice and healthy. Eating healthy food can nicen-up your hair, nails and it can even keep your brain working correctly. Junk food can make students lose concentration in school classrooms. Kids insides get so yucky that is can affect their bodies, which can also affect kids marks and grades in tests. This is another reason as to why everyone must have a healthy lunchbox.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that everyone must have  healthy lunchbox as it keeps you fit and healthy, junk food can make you fat and sick and junk food can make you lose concentration. Now stop packing rubbish, pack healthy food!

Lunch on the weekend with Miss 8 …. fresh corn and salad

I asked her what her favourite lunch box food was and here is a few things she said – hommus or avocado dip with vegetables sticks and rice crackers, Eggs, cold pasta salad, leftover chicken schnitzel on a wrap with mayo and salad, most dinners leftover, date slice and homemade cakes and muffins….oh and mangoes and passionfruit when they are in season.
