COCOBIOTICS Energy Bars GIVE AWAY

Good Morning, I hope this finds you great and well rested after the weekend.

As you may have seen last week, I was SUPER excited when I received my order of Superfoods for Kidz Bars and Super Reds and Green Bars (to go onto my website)  and amongst them I found a box of the brand new bars by the amazing team at Nutra Organics ….. COCOBIOTICS ENERGY BARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND just like their other bars these are gluten, dairy, soy, nut, corn and egg free!!!!!

Naturally I ripped one open straight away and demolished it in record time….oh my it was good! It is so completely different to their range of other bars yet mouth watering just the same. It is (to me) sweeter, so much more of a treat bar (although I would have no issues eating one daily ;-) ) and as the name implies its got the most delicious coconut taste….reminding me of the chocolate Bountys or Golden Roughs…knowing though that they are jam packed with probiotics and nothing but goodness makes me feel not in the slightest bit guilty  when eating them!!!!

A day of sugar information!

Good Afternoon! I hope this finds you all well.

I have been getting loads of private messages and questions about sugars recently….the good…the bad and most of all the confusing! I decided to have a day of speaking about sugar, asking questions, sharing posts and trying to give you as MUCH information as I possibly could…..on BOTH sides….as there IS two sides to everything.

This all happened yesterday (Wednesday 26th) on my Facebook page and I had the most amazing day sharing it all with you!

Sugar is such a personal and often sensitive subject but the comments were all so helpful and truly interesting to read….. I loved all the conversations and opinions (and REALLY loved all the recipes shared!)

sugar-conversion-chart-

I wanted to say  a MASSIVE THANK YOU to the following AMAZING — INSPIRING — HELPFUL — GENEROUS —- LOVING — woman for allowing me to share their posts, stories and recipes……”I” thank you and I KNOW that so many COTC friends Thank you also!!!!!

* Brenda from Brenda Janschek Health & Lifestyle who shared this RECIPE of Apple and Cinnamon Bliss Balls!

* Rebecca from Author Rebecca Mugridge who shared this RECIPE of no added sugar choccy muffins!

* Sonia from Natural New Age Mum who shared this RECIPE of Beetroot and Strawberry Brownies!

* Alisha from Naughty Naturopath Mum and Essence Practitioner who shared this RECIPE of Chocolate Chia and Pear Brownie with Leah’s Coconut Yoghurt!

* Jo from Quirky Cooking who shared THIS BLOGPOST on sugar substitutes!

* Jodi from Hot Pink Chilli who shared THIS BLOGPOST on how to quit sugar!

ALL this information, plus SO much more is on my FACEBOOK page….so why not make yourself a cuppa and sit down and have  a browse through it all! Would be interested to hear which ‘sweetener’ you choose!

Here is a quick and easy sugar free recipe that I made last week especially for my Miss almost 9 who I have on a refined sugar free diet at the moment…..

photo-2 copy 6

SUGAR FREE LEMON BISCUIT SLICE!

 1 cup rice four
1 cup desiccated coconut
1 tspn cinnamon
1/3 cup maple syrup OR agave syrup
6 tblspns coconut oil
zest of 1/2 large lemon

Preheat oven to 180c and line a lamington tray with baking paper.

Mix all ingredients well into a large bowl.

Use your hands to continue to mix the ingredients until well combined – I find the heat from your hands helps with the coconut oil and it mixes better this way.

Push mixture into the prepared lamington tray.

Bake for 10 minutes.

A simple yet tasty “biscuity’ type slice that my Miss almost 9 thoroughly enjoyed and was thrilled she could take to school for morning tea.

I hope you have enjoyed all this information! Please don’t hesitate to send me a private message on FB or email me at info@cutoutthecrap.com.au if you have any questions!

Take Care Of You,
Collette x

Miss 11's Birthday and my first "Rainbow Cake"

Good Afternoon! I hope this finds you all well and I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

My eldest daughter turned 11 last week and she had 6 friends over for a little sleep over party on Friday night. The kids were all so behaved and had a great time.

Me and my Miss 11

I did hommus and carrot sticks, chips and some natural lollies for when they arrived. Whilst the natural lollies aren’t 100% additive free in my opinion, it was only 1 packet and a party so I let it slide.

We decided not to do “lolly bags” and instead Miss 11 made all her friends “cupcakes” and gave it to them not long after they arrived. She used cupcake cases, we bought them all nice warm socks and she stuck an additive free lollypop inside each one….they were super cute!

IMG_9689
We made homemade pizzas for dinner and cooked them on the bbq. Hubby and I made and rolled the bases and I had a range of toppings for them to make their own….tomato paste, corn, pineapple, capsicum, boiled and shredded chicken, mushrooms, cheese – all additive free. I was super impressed that I cut up into large chunks my 500g block of additive free cheese and it took 30 seconds to make “grated cheese” in my food processor. A lot of people aren’t aware that hidden additives and chemicals are generally in store bought grated cheese – so its great when its so easy to make your own.

My grated cheese without the nasties in it!

Miss 8 with her homemade pizza!

Dessert was CAKE. Now there is a HUGE warning with this as YES it does have sugar in it ….. and a fair bit (especially the icing!) I made 4 of the “1 cake 9 ways” from my book “Cut out the Crap for Kids” – with the HOPPER natural food colours added – blue, pink, yellow, purple. I used 12 mls of each colour – except for the purple which I only used 10ml. So the CAKES were gluten, dairy and preservative / additive free.

IMG_9682
IMG_9683
The icing was a butter icing with butter, icing sugar and blue hopper colour (approximately 6mls) – I joined the cakes together with the tiniest spread of jam – just to make it stick.

She is growing up so fast – can’t believe we have an 11 year old ;-)

IMG_9721
The plan was for popcorn whilst the kids watched movies but they simply couldn’t fit it in!

The next morning for breakfast I did a big plate of fruit, made them their own chocolate milks with loving earth drinking chocolate and made “egg in breads” —– this breakfast was a MASSIVE hit!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say that this is the 3rd year we have done a sleep over and its always the easiest and least stressful party….and the kids always have a lovely time :-)

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead – it is my girls last week of school before school holidays which excites me as I love school holidays!
